What We Do
Recycling
Advanced recycling of spent NdFeB magnets and swarf into secure, sustainable and traceable separated and refined magnet REOs. Using our proprietary technology, we are commercialising modular, global deployment to satisfy sovereign capability initiatives. Our innovative recycling technology is critical to building a circular economy, allowing for extensive reuse of spent magnets, in turn alleviating the burden on raw material supply while significantly reducing waste.
IonicRE is advancing commercially viable recycling facilities for rare earth oxides and magnets, recovering rare earth oxides from spent magnets and swarf. This advancement is achieved through IonicRE’s patented solvent separation method, enabling efficient processing of individual REOs with fewer separation stages and reduced reagent consumption while maintaining high purity.
Significantly, an independent Product Carbon Footprint Study has shown Ionic Technologies’ magnet recycling process can achieve emissions reductions of up to 61% compared to the current REO supply chain sourced from primary supply.
Pioneering a Secure Western Supply Chain of NdFeB Magnets
Developing an efficient, secure, and optimised supply chain for the West and its allies, mitigating risk and political interference regarding supply, quality, access, pricing, logistics and volume to vital industries.
Through the development of a Western supply chain built on a circular economy system that protects the interests of its member industries, nations will be enabled greater control over key materials needed for their defence, advanced manufacturing, and energy developments – all while improving sustainability without the threat of supply cut offs, quality drops, price hikes or politically motivated blockades.
Refining
Developing standalone heavy rare earth refineries, utilising IonicRE’s patented separation technology.
We are currently advancing our joint Viridion refinery and recycling facility (50/50 JV) in Brazil to separate magnet and refine heavy rare earths for downstream value addition to metals, magnets and compounds. The facility, utilising IonicRE’s patented technology, will separate high value magnet and heavy rare earths from the Colossus Project’s full spectrum of REOs. With continued innovation and efforts, IonicRE is securing vital access for countries throughout the Western supply chain to enable closed loop, circular economies and global protections for defence, manufacturing, and energy sectors.
De-mining / Re-risking
IonicRE has hyperfocused its efforts on continued technology innovation and commercialisation surrounding refining, recycling and producing magnets within circular economies, with an emphasis on de-mining and de-risking.
